What are dental implants?
Dental implants are an option often recommended for people seeking treatment options for a single/multiple missing teeth or alternatives to loose-fitting dentures.
Dental implants are made out of a high-grade medical titanium screw-like ‘artificial root’ which is carefully and precisely inserted into the jawbone at a single tooth replacement. If replacing all top or bottom teeth our highly skilled dentist Dr. Renu Karn may recommend 4 implants to support a full arch of teeth with an implant-supported bridge or a technique called All-On-4™.
Titanium is used in as it induces Osseo-integration which is the process of bone fusing to the implant. This titanium creates a strong, sturdy tooth root ready for the replacement crown or bridge.

Are You a Candidate for Dental Implants?
Are you missing a tooth? If so, dental implants at Dental Excellence may be the ideal choice for you. Dental implants are remarkably versatile; they can be used to support a single crown, a dental bridge, or even a full set of dentures. To provide support of unrivalled strength and stability, dental implants are embedded in the jaw. Fully replicating the entire structure of the missing tooth from root to crown.
A consultation with Dr Renu Karn can determine whether a dental implant may be right for you. Ideal candidates should be in good general and oral health with gum tissue free of periodontal disease. Patients with inadequate jaw bone density to support a dental implant may need to undergo a bone grafting procedure in order to qualify for implant dentistry.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
What to Expect
Dr. Renu Karn will assess the bone height and density to ensure adequate levels will support the dental implant made from essentially a high-grade medical metal screw made of commercially pure titanium. In some cases, nature needs a little helping hand and Dr. Karn may offer suggestions to support the dental implant when surgically placed in the jaw bone. Because the body does not recognize titanium as a foreign material, the implant will eventually fuse with the jaw bone and basically become part of your anatomy. Once the dental implant is ready and settled in the jaw bone, an abutment is placed and serves as an attachment for your custom-crafted dental restoration.
We believe in educating patients prior to every step in treatment, providing information on the procedure while addressing and lessening any potential anxiety they may experience. CT scans are used during planning to make a 3-D model of the patient’s mouth, ensuring exact, correct placement of the implant. This sophisticated imaging technique not only lessens time before the patient can have the implants placed in their mouths, but also has been shown to lessen pain and safely avoid adjacent areas such as the sinuses.
After meeting with our dentist Dr. Renu Karn, an individually tailored treatment plan with an approximate cost of your investment and timeline is outlined to best meet each patient’s unique needs. You may learn that an alternative restorative treatment – such as removable dentures or a traditional dental bridge, for example – would be better suited for you.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
